The Effects of Emotion Based Group Counseling Program on Emotional Intelligence and Sociality of High School Students

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to experiment the effect of Emotion Based Group Counseling Program on high school students¡¯ Emotional intelligence and Sociality. It is conducted on sociality scale among 291 first graders in a man¡¯s high school in C province. Students in lower 15% group with poor sociality were selected and 26 students of this group agreed on this program. Half of them randomly allocated to each group, the Emotion Based Group Counseling Program and the control group. The duration of Emotion Based Group Counseling Program is a total of 8 sessions over 4 weeks. Follow-up test was conducted in 4 weeks. As a result of this study, Emotion Intelligence and Sociality in the group of Emotion Based Group Counseling Program was significantly increased and remains the same. However there is no significant increase in the control group. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for future study were also discussed.
